Review & Swatches || Mac Cremesheen in Hot Gossip

Hello,

Feel like I am back on top of posts again, so standby for reviews and general chit chat posts!

Today I am reviewing a Mac Lipstick in one of my favourite shade, Hot Gossip. As you can see it has been well loved!

Hot Gossip is part of the permanent line, and is described as a 'mid-tone pinky plum'; it is a Cremesheen formula and is available for £15.50. Personally, despite only using a few mac lipsticks, Cremesheen is my favourite finish. I have read reviews from other bloggers who find the finish drying - I, on the other hand, find the opposite. I find it moisturising and my lips feel soft.

The Cremesheen finish, true to its name, applies with a creamy feel with a slight 'shine' without looking glossy or wet. I find that it lasts around two hours before it starts to fade to a pink tint on my lips.

Hot Gossip is a medium pink with a slight purple tinge to it, it leans toward a cool/cold colour if you ask me - it isn't too cool that warm skin tones couldn't pull it off. I have a slight yellow undertone to my skin and I love this colour.

The colour is a cream with no shimmer. It looks great with a variety of makeup looks. It's a nice soft pink that is noticeable without being too loud and in your face.

If you are not familiar with the classic MAC lipstick scent, you need to familiarise yourself with it. It is a lovely vanilla scent that reminds me of vanilla cupcakes and vanilla frosting.

I only own a handful of MAC lipsticks because the price is a tad steep for me, so I am really picky when I choose my shade. Have you tried this shade? What is your favourite MAC lipstick formula and colour?

DIY || Peel-off Blackhead Removal Mask

Hello All,

Hope you are all well. Today I thought I'd share with you a DIY beauty post. I really like combining kitchen ingredients to make skin and beauty products but today I am only using one ingredient and that is an egg. You will also need a egg separator, you can try and do this without one and look all professional but I'm lazy and a bit useless.

The mask has five benefits:
1. Brightens your complexion making your skin look glowing
2. Removes blackheads
3. Deep cleanses
4. Tightens pores
5. Controls oiliness

So to make this miracle mask all you need to do is follow these simple steps:

First you need to separate one egg, if you don't know how to do this search it on YouTube, then beat it in a small bowl. Now using a face mask brush, or a cheap flat foundation brush, apply the egg white to your face and chin. Take a thin cosmetic tissue cut holes for your mouth, nose and eyes and place it on your face and pat it gently. Now apply another layer of egg white and leave it all to dry and set. When completely dry peel the mask off and have a look at the dirt, YUCK! Wash your face with warm water and apply a gentle moisturiser.

Let me know how you get on!

Now if you've followed me for a while you'll know I love No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colours, the formula is great, the colour is so pigmented as well as having great staying power. Also its really really chip resistant even without top coat!

Have you used any No7 nail varnishes? What did you think? What was your favourite colour?

Review & Swatches || Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz

Helloooo,

Another review today! I finally dived in and bought myself this little palette which I must admit I had been eyeing up for a while. It is the most beautiful selection of Plum Quartz. Which is very similar to my No7 Quad. The palette has 6 shades of plum, pink and brown shades so is great for building a dramatic look. Each shade is unique and lovely on its on but when combined together they create a gorgeous look. The mixture of light and dark shade means that you can quickly transform a subtle daytime look into a nighttime look easy.

Each shadow is very pigmented. There is slight fallout from the darker shade but when I Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion this doesn't affect the look. Or you can just use a fluffy brush to sweep it away. Again when you use a primer the shadow colour pay of is great but without a primer the intensity of the colour does decrease a little.

Have you tried any Pixi products?

Natural Sunburn Remedies

Hellooo,

The sun is out which means it is time to dig out our shorts and strappy tops and catch some rays! Now I am one of these super lucky people whom rarely burn, however I know a lot of people who do. If you overexpose your skin to the sun you will probably end up with sunburn depending on your skin type and colour. I have put together a couple of natural remedies you can do at home to make sunburn a bit more comfortable until Mother Nature herself heals the burn. But you need to remember these remedies cannot reverse the damage cause by harmful UV rays. Prevent is your best remedy, ensure you use a suitable sun block in the correct factor, always take extra care with your face as UV rays can increase the signs of aging.

Take a Bath
Add a few heaped tablespoons of baking soda to a cool bath makes a lovely smoothing remedy. Soak in the warm for 15 to 20 minutes. If you soak any longer, you risk drying your skin and looking something like a lizard. Once you emerge from your bath resist the urge to towel dry. Instead air dry as you don't want to wipe off the baking soda.

Aloe Vera
Simply slit open one of the broad leaves and apply the gel directly to the burn five to six times a day. Aloe Vera helps by causing the blood vessels to constrict. It is a great to take the sting and redness out of the burn.

Rehydrate Your Skin
As the sun has fried your skin, it has also dehydrated it. Be sure to replenish fluids by drinking plenty of water while recovering from a sunburn. Being hydrated will aid the healing process.

Pat Down With Potatoes
Weird I know but I promise it helps. Take two washed potatoes, cut them into small chunks, place them in a food blender until they are in liquid form. Add a splash of water if they look a tad dry. Pat onto the burnt area with the potato. Wait until the potato is dry and then take a cool shower. Then pat dry with a towel.

How do cure sunburn? Any more weird home remedies?

Skin Care || My Day & Night Creams

Hellooo My Lovelies,

Hope you are all well and enjoying the summer, I know I am!! Today I finally thought I'd share my new(ish) skin care routine. The first installments of this 'series/review' I thought I'd talk you through day and night creams. The creams I am currently using are from Clinique and Elemis. So lets kick it off with the day cream.

The day cream I am using is just a generic moisturiser from Clinique, it can be used both day and night but I chose only to use it during the day. It is the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel which is for combination to oily skin, so it is perfect for me. The gel is oil-free and non-comedogenic which means it does not block your pores up. It gives you a lovely lightweight hydration without any oiliness as a result your skin feels smoother, softer and more comfortable. Another lovely point that it doesn't have a strong scent as I cannot stand scented day creams, I just don't understand the principle of them! It makes a great base for foundation or balms as does not make your skin sweat or grease up during the day but it doesn't have a matte finish to it. The consistency is lovely really smooth and lightweight, it absorbs fairly quickly so isn't sat on your skin for ages. The gel is aimed at combination to oily skin so if you have dry skin this definitely is not the moisturiser for you. However Clinique also offer a Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ for dry to dry combination skin. Do not make the mistake of confusing the two! It will really mess your skin up! You can pick both moisturisers up in any Clinique Stockists or here online.

The night cream I currently use is Elemis Dreamy Sleep Night-Time Moisturiser from the Fresh Skin range. The range is aimed at young skin and targets problems such as oiliness and blemishes whilst leaving your skin appearing brighter and more radiant. Each product in the range is formulated using natural ingredients, which is a great bonus. I always think the less chemicals on your skin the better. The cream is scented, so if you don't like scented night creams this is not for you. However a scented night cream is something I can deal with. It has a nice relaxing scent a little like lavender, which is great for relaxation and night time. The consistency is great, really light and glides across the skin smoothly. It absorbs fairly quickly so you aren't hanging around for it to sink in before your head hits the pillow. The next morning my skin feels repaired, smooth and soft unlike some night creams that leave your skin feeling smothered and oily. The cream comes in a pump bottle which is great because it dispenses just the right amount for your neck and face. I usually associate Elemis as begin rather pricey but I actually think that this is very reasonably priced. You can pick up the Fresh Skin range in John Lewis or here  online.
