My Top Five Drugstore Foundations

Hellooo My Lovelies,

Today I'd like to share with you my favourite drugstore foundations. I'm pretty sure you all would have seen the majority of these foundations in the blogosphere as they are bloggers favourites!

Number 1
My all time favourite drugstore foundation is Rimmel London Wake Me Up Foundation. Now this is obvious, who doesn't love this. It gives my skin a natural radiant glow making me look healthy and awake.I have seen review of this foundation where they have found it too shimmery and glitterball-esque. But this isn't a problem for me. Also it smells amazing, not number one on my list for things I look for in foundation but hey ho!

Number 2
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse has always been a firm favourite of mine, it is a product I always find myself needing to go back to and repurchase. I have been using it on and off for about 5 years or so now. Dream Matte Mouse seems to have developed a negative name in blog world but I cannot understand why. It has a nice texture and goes on easily I like to use this on lazy days or if I am just popping out quickly. I would say this is a light/medium coverage product.

Number 3
Seventeen Miracle Matte Foundation is definitely full coverage. This has amazing staying put power, I use this when I want a flawless finish for photographs or if I am going out and need something that will stay put no matter how hot I get! The packaging isn't pretty or nice just cheap plastic but that's what you can expect with a budget item. Also if you do not apply the foundation with a fairly clean brush and blend it out it can look very cakey and tragic!

Number 4
L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint Foundation is my most recent of drugstore finds. I love it, its is so lightweight, however it is incredibly running when it comes out the bottle so you have to be quick! The foundation applies really nicely and glides effortlessly across the skin. It lasts a fair while but not as long as the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. The coverage is light to say the less but I think it is the perfect summer foundation!

Number 5
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, this is different to all of the other foundations as it is light coverage and has a gel like texture to it.  Again it is a lightweight foundation so it great for the summer. The L'Oreal foundation is very similar in feature and performance, the only real difference being that the Bourjois Serum is a thicker solution.

What are your favourite drugstore foundations?

Review || Fantasy by Britney Spears The Naughty remix

Helloo There,

Today I thought I'd do another perfume review after how well my Dolce review when (click here to read). This is one half of Britney Spears newest perfume collection. Can you all remember back in secondary school everyone wore Britney Spears Fantasy, that little pink bottle covered in green gems? Or is this me being old? Anyway she has re released the range with an addition of two new Fantasy scents, the Naughty Remix and the Nice Remix and today's review is all about the Naughty Remix. The idea of the scents is that they use the original notes of the scent from 2005.

The Naughty Remix which is the more sensual of the two, is for when you are feeling daring and maybe that means it is more suitable for the evenings. With notes of jasmine, white chocolate, orchid, sweet cupcake accord and creamy musk. I have no doubt at all that if you like the original Fantasy scent you will also like this new 'remix' of the scent. The reason I chose the Naughty version is probably because I thought it smelt a little more grown up and sophisticated. Each bottle comes with a little removable charm bracelet which is cute. The bottle isn't as glitz as the original Fantasy scent, but this is probably because us Britney fans are growing up to! It only feels like yesterday we were all rocking the pig tails and sing 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'!

How I Cope With Insomnia

Hello there.

Yay summer is upon us and now all I am looking forward to fun in the sun with my friends as well as being able to jet off to Spain with my wonderful family.

Well today I thought I'd share with you a different personal post. If you are at uni or are have been through the uni process you will totally understand and relate to this post, well I hope you do. Sleep, is the topic today and it a topic I struggle with because myself and sleep seem to have a slight love hate relationship and it sucks. I love sleep and will quite happy stop everything to be able to spend time sleeping but it just rejects me and send me packing, it's like sleep just want me. Okay that was a bit silly but seriously we don't get along. I really enjoy my sleep and when I do actually get to sleep I can quite happily sleep for up to 15 hours straight, yes that has happened, as well as being able to sleep through world war three. I am a very deep sleeper, despite this I really struggle to get to sleep in the first place. I am not one of these people who can fall asleep anywhere at any time. I am to have thing in a particular way, sleepovers were a nightmare when I was little as you can imagine.

Today I thought I'd just talk you through some of the things I like to do to try and help me get to sleep. Firstly I like to make sure any food I have had has 'gone down' because I hate laying there with food just sitting there on my stomach. Secondly an hour before I aim to go to sleep I take some herbal sleeping tablets, I am currently using Melissa Dream tablets from New Nordic, which you can get here or from Holland & Barrett stores. The tablets are used to help people to maintain and help a healthy calm sleep and relaxation. I find these really help with the whole relaxation period as you begin to wind down before sleep. They also really help me to have a well rested nights sleep and I feel energetic and ready for the day were as beforehand I felt very lethargic.

The next couple of steps I like to to do involve stimulating the sense smell. I find that is a really important sense to use as it really helps me to fully relax and unwind. To do this I use two products. The first being from Febreze, if you read my June favourites you would have seen it. It is from the new range Sleep Serenity in the scent Warm Milk and Honey. It is lovely as it reminds me of being younger when sleep really was not an issue. The bedroom mist comes in three scents, the other two being Quiet Jasmine and Warm Moonlit Lavender. You can buy Febreze Bedroom Mist here or in most major retailers. The second product I use is from a Aromatherapy company called Tisserand and it is the Sweet Dreams Aromatherapy Roller Ball. All you have to do is to simply glide the roller over your pulse points - wrist, temples and neck - for a restful nights sleep. It contains Lavender, Bergamot and Ylang-Ylang oils which have been hand-blended to aid sleep. The oil does exactly what it claims to do and the roller ball is great as it dispenses the right amount of oil.

A few other things I like to do myself is to make sure I am relaxed as there is only so much pills and scents can do for you. So a couple of things I like to do is to make sure I am in a tidy and clean environment, this means a tidy bedroom. I find that a messy room stresses me out which means I cannot relax. I also like to ensure that I have achieved everything I planned to do that day, so in the morning I sent myself out small tasks to do during my day, for example getting a post written up. I find that if I haven't finished something I am constantly thinking about it when it comes to bedtime. The final thing I like to do is after I have taken my pills I like to put all electronics - Ipad, phone and laptop - down and read. Reading really helps me to unwind and relax.

I hope this post has been okay I know it is a bit different but I thought I'd share it with you. Do any of you suffer with Insomnia or restless nights, if so how do you cope?

NOTD || Orly Country Club Khaki

Hellooooo,

I actually got this a freebie in a magazine around christmas time. It is a really beautiful pale greige, here I have two coats it could potentially do with a third as in direct light it looks a tad patchy. Country Club Khaki is a sophisticated elegant shade and is a nice alternative to a nude. I actually find the brush a bit on the narrow side which is why I think it looks a bit patchy.

You can purchase Orly nail products from Boots store or online here for £5.00.

Review & Swatches || L'Oreal L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick

Helloo There,

Thought I'd share today another review. I know I do so many but I just want to tell you about all these products I have hiding away in drawers. Today spotlight falls on L'Oreal and more specifically their L'Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks. I have two colours 500 Molto Mauve and 101 Rose Melody.

The L'Oreal Extraordinaire Colour Riche Liquid Lipsticks come in a beautiful White-Gold packaging, on the side and bottom you'll find a coloured piece of plastic which matches the shade of the liquid lipstick. This colour is pretty similar to the shade inside. At the top of the tube and wade there is a little sticker with the shade number and name. Finally inside we find a lovely shade fluffy wand, that picks up plenty of product that gives your a luscious coat. I like the packaging, it is rather Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain esque. I do like the white gold theme but I really don't like the plastic on it.

500 Molto Mauve is my favourite of the two shades, it is a dusty pink-nude with brown-ish undertones and very gentle sparkles. It's very sophisticated and pretty. It is very easy to work with and glides on the lips beautifully.
101 Rose Melody is a gorgeous soft pink-nude with sparkles. It is so feminine and pretty, perfect everyday shade.

The L'Oreal Extraordinaire Colour Riche Liquid Lipsticks are simply amazing. I love L'Oreal as a brand and these Liquid Lipsticks have not been a disappointment. Pigmentation, amazing formula, wide variety of colours including brights and nudes. And to top it all off they smell amazing!

Review || Di Palomo Orange Blossom Hand and Body Lotion

Hi There,

Now I doubt that you've heard of Di Palomo, I hadn't until I received this hand and body lotion as a gift. So I did a bit of research and found out it is stocked by feelunique.com and John Lewis. Di Palomo is an English brand based in Devon inspired by Italy which offers a range of bath and body treatments. I recieved this gift as my lovely Nan knew I was a sucker for anything fragranced with Orange Blossom, and this has not disappointed me.

So what do Di Palomo say about the product:

"A rich, indulgent Hand & Body Lotion blended with moisturising olive oil, plus natural extracts of orange blossom & honey, known for their skin soothing properties. Apply all over the body, after a bath or shower, to leave your skin soft, smooth & nourished"

The lotion feels really luxurious, due to it being thick and creamy in texture. If you aren't a fan of strong scents stay well away from the Di Palomo ranges as they are all heavily fragranced. I used the lotion all over my body after a shower, it is just gorgeous, it leaves my skin feeling super moisturized and smooths while the sweet scent of orange blossom delights my scents. The scent also has fantastic staying power, I can still smell it on my skin

The lotion is made of natural ingredients so this is a huge bonus for me as I like to use products that a free of chemical and nasties as much as possible. Another added bonus is that Di Palomo do not test their products on animals.

The product has a luxury feel when opening up the box but I was slightly disappointed when I pulled out the plastic bottle, I was expecting a glass bottle or something a bit nicer. However that doesn't take away the product it's great.

You can find Di Palomo products in John Lewis and this lotion retails for £10.

Have you tried Di Palomo products before?

Guest Post || Summer Nail Art

Hi Guys! I'm Naomi from Pennies for a pound, a beauty/fashion blog about the cheaper site of beauty and finding big brands for less! I'm posting on Danielles blog today (big thanks!) and she's also done a guest post on my blog which you should check out!
Anyway, on with the post! I used to do a lot of nail art designs so I thought I'd show you some that you could wear for summer!
Multicoloured Union Jacks, can be any colours you want!
This Blue is really in at the moment, and I've just added some extra white detailing around the edges
Obviously the Olympics has been and gone, but you could easily do a world cup Brazil design! Or even London nails with landmarks and other traditional tourist things like I heart London.
These are more formal and more wearable, perfect for weddings and special events. Al I did was used special nail stickers that give a guide to painting the white tips on, then added some extra details including flowers and dots along the edge, you can put whatever you want on your!
I hope this has given you some inspiration for your own nail art, or even copy these designs, either way tweet me a picture of your designs/re-creations at @naomi_joy_, would love to see them!
Again, massive thanks to Danielle for letting me post on her blog, and make sure you check out my blog to see her guest post here.
Thanking you,
Naomi

My Hair Care Routine for Damaged Hair

Helloo There,

Over the past month or so I have had really badly damaged hair, so it after having a hair cut I made the decision to really make an effort to look after my hair and keep it in better condition. So I though I'd share with you the products I have currently been using and actually really enjoying. I am pretty fickle with my hair care product as I swap and change a lot until I find one that really suits me, which is where I am now.

The first thing I use is obviously is shampoo and conditioner. Now the brand is I am using is not one I had come across before, as haircare isn't really my thing much more of a make up girl. The brand is Andrew Barton and I am using the S.O.S Super Repair which is exclusive to Asda. I am using the shampoo and conditioner from the range. Seriously these smell AMAZING, they are fragranced with a stunning Brazil nut scent. The shampoo is a great cleanser leaving my hair feeling really clean without a trace of build up. The shampoo is more of a jelly texture when compared to your conventional shampoo, so you really do have to lather it up and massage through your hair and scalp. The conditioner is lightweight but it really does work well due to the high levels of Shea protein it has in it. I only apply the conditioner to the lengths of my hair as it tends to make my roots greasy (I experience this with most conditioners).

Next I give my hair a little towel dry and run just on the ends Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy Anti-Breakage Serum. Again this smells amazing, just like chocolate. It is supposed to transform you hair into silky smooth locks due to its unique blend of antioxidant rich ingredients such as coconut oil, keratin proteins and avocado oil. This is a great product as it really does prolong breakage after a trim.

Before drying my hair, I pop it out of its towel give it a brush using Denman AnarKitty 'Ruby' D3 brush. Then I spray a leave-in conditioner and heat defense spray through the length and roots of my hair. The leave-in conditioner I am using at the moment is also from Andrew Barton and from the S.O.S Super Repair range. Again its a good product and smells amazing. The heat defense spray I am using is the James Brown London Heat Styling Protector. Now honestly I haven't got a clue when it comes to heat defence spray, what makes it good and what makes it bad. I just use one and hope it is doing the right thing. Then I blow dry my hair, I start my doing the front then flip my head upside down and do the rest. I find this adds a lot more texture and volume to my hair.

After blow drying I use a little bit of Andrew Barton Frizz Tamer Quick Fix Shine and Control Serum. This really does tame the frizz, it is a nice light oil which manages to keep my hair at bay for about 24hrs. Then run my brush through it all again and apply a little bit more heat protectant.

Now on to styling, I either leave my hair at this point because blow drying gives me the most lovely volumized beachy hair or going in with the straighteners. The straighteners I use are GHD V Gold Max Styler. They are amazing as I have really thick long hair so they get the job done really quickly and well. Once all straight, I apply more of the anti-frizz serum if needed, I style as required usually just as french plait to the side or up in a clip.

Twice a week I like to use a hair mask, currently I am using Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Intense Hair Mask, which you can read my review of here. Which is good and does the trick.

I like to get a trim every 8 weeks, as by this time my hair ends it and it feel like a really lovely treat!

Review || Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream

Hellooo My Lovelies,

If you haven't heard of this product yet, why not? Where have you been? This little orange pot is one of the most hyped up skincare products on the blogmesphere.
Just for the record it does not matter how much sleep I get I ALWAYS have puffy eyes, what makes matters worse I am suffering with hay fever at the moment which also make my eyes puffy. So as you may be able to tell I really need a good de-puffing refreshing eye cream. As Origins promise that the GinZing eye cream brightens and depuff all while acting like a double shot of espresso for your eyes. Sound fantastic right? Well do it work, almost. Let me explain.

Here is what Origins have to say about the cream:

"Late night? Long flight? Look tired all the time? Prepare to become one of the perky people!

Nature's clinically-proven morning-after eye cream helps to reduce the look of dark circles. Unsightly bags and puffiness seems less visible. And Origins proprietary complex of Caffeine from Coffee bean, Panax Ginseng, Magnolia Extract and natural optic brighteners rapidly wakes up, refreshes and restores radiance to tired eyes"

I have been using the eye cream for approximately six weeks now both morning and evening. And honestly I have seen a slight change in brightness and puffiness but nowhere eed as much of an improvement I was expect from what Origins had to say and from the hype. After using the cream in the morning my eye area did seem brighter but this had fade around 2pm ish, I wouldn't be able to tell you if this is from the cream or just my eyes tiring throughout the day. As for puffiness I was waking up with less puffiness in the mornings, which was great especially with my hayfever it made a radical difference. It is really nice to wake up and put this on you skin, you really does wake you up and refreshes your eye area.

The cream itself has a fairly thick consistency. But a little bit goes a long way with it. I only have to dip the tip of my finger into the tub and I have enough to do both of my eyes. I apply the product under my eye and sweep it across my lid also. It absorbs into your skin really well and doesn't feel heavy, it also has no effect on eye makeup as some creams do. The cream is pale pink in colour and has tiny little light reflecting pigments running throughout which is what brightens your eyes.

You can pick up Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream for £23 for 15ml, which I think is great because you don't need a lot of it so i reckon it is going to last me ages. Overall it is a great product but I personally do not think it lives up to the hype.

June Favourites

Helloo,

Really really odd mixture of items in this months favourite so bare with me.

Rimmel London Lash Accelerator Endless
This is a great mascara and I am rarely without it on my lashes now. It offers great length and definition. It does not clump or flake off, the formula is just right it's not too wet or too dry. The packaging isn't anything special really, just your standard drugstore mascara but performs like a high end product.

Febreze Sleep Serenity
I know random right but this is a new product from Febreze, it is from their sleep serenity range and it is in the scent warm milk and honey. The scent takes me back to my childhood, it really is a homely fragrances. As I suffer really badly with insomnia I am also avid to try new products that aim to help sleep or relaxation. Surprisingly it does actually relaxing me by comforting me. It's a nice product and would recommend it to anyone who just need a little helping hand to relax at night.

Primark Vanilla and Coconut Candle
Primark is the last place I would have thought of looking for a candle, but here I am sharing with you a primark candle. It is actually the scent that caught my eye, vanilla and coconut, a far cry from your standard vanilla candle. I don't really know what else to say really, but yeah it is nice.

Lauren Conrad Style
I have just rediscovered this book when reorganising my room. I haven't got a clue why I ever put it down. If you do not own a copy of this book why not? It is literally my bible, Lauren Conrad has such a timeless elegant style which she teaches you how to achieve. It is a great read and definitely would purchasing if you don't have it already, also you can pick it up really cheap nowadays.

La Tasca
La Tasca is a chain of Spanish inspired tapas, paella and other authentic dishes restaurants. It is such a great restaurant for socialising. I went to the Bournemouth restaurant this month in a group of 12 of us, it was a lovely meal great food and lots of jugs of sangria!! If you want a social meal which isn't overly expensive pop to La Tasca you will not be disappointed!

Yogurt, Strawberries and Honey
As you may have seen in my hayfever post, I have been having local honey for breakfast and my favourite way to have it is with greek yogurt and strawberries. It is so yummy and super duper healthy and eating breakfast is really helping me with dieting and feeling a lot better about the day.

New Look Denim Skater Dress
This is my favourite dress at the moment I love the way it hugs all the right places on my body. It is really flattering and I love the light acid washed colour and style. I brought it from New Look about a month ago, you can't get the same one anymore but this one is very similar from the website

What have you been loving this month ??

I am Attempting to Cope With Hay Fever

Helloo There,

As summer basically here now, it means I'm in the build up of six to eight weeks of suffering with Hay Fever. I has only been in the last couple of years that I have really started to suffer with Hay Fever badly, I've always had the odd sneeze but now I get the full slog, itchy and runny eyes, constant runny nose and repetitive sneezing. So I thought I'd share with you a couple of medical and natural remedies that make the summer a little more bearable.

Firstly, I have found that Cetirizine works better for me than Loratadine. But each of us if different and remember to seek the advice of a GP or medical health advisor before you take any medication. A lot of medication also takes about two weeks to start working so be patient. This also means that you need to prepare yourself BEFORE the high pollen really sets in. In addition, it's not good taking your medication when you remember, you need to get into a routine.

I get the biggest desire to scratch my eyes which drives me insane as well as messes up any form of eye make up I have put on. So you can find me hiding behind these rather large pair of Topshop sunnies.

Now surely if the pollen cannot get into my eyes, I won't suffer right? It looks ridiculous when the sun isn't shining, but it is a great defence mechanism. Another thing for my eyes are eye drops I am currently using Optrex Soothing Eye Drop which are specifically for itchy eyes, and they work a miracle.
I also find that getting changed and showering when I get home for the day help especially as my job is outdoors. You'd be surprised at how this actually helps. It means that you literally get rid of all the pollen that sticks to you throughout the day, it also prevents you moving pollen from your hair and skin onto your bedding and pillows.
I know in the summer we want to save the plant and not use our tumble dryers but drying your clothes outside means that they are just getting pollen stuck to them like crazy! To be fair I still dry the majority of my clothes outside but I no longer dry my bedding on the line.
Now I have read a lot of things online about the wonders local honey does for hay fever so recently I have but substituting my shop brought runny honey for a locally produced one, now the price is a lot more but it does seem to be helping me out. I have been adding the honey to greek yogurt and strawberries for breakfast in the mornings. The honey is supposed to desensitise you to the pollen.
A good nasal spray is a must for a hay fever sufferer. I have been using Prevalin, which has no antihistamines or steroids but creates a barrier in your nose and prevents a reaction. Another great mechanism for your nose is Lush Ultrabalm, I have been using a small bit around each of my nostrils, it works by catching the pollen before it enters you nose.

What do you do to prevent hay fever?
